Richard Schwarz, a partner of the former department store “Bauer und Schwarz”, his wife Magda, née Adler, their children Erika and Viktor and Wilhelm AdlerMagda’s father, lived at 18, Falkstraße.

In the night of the pogrom NS thugs intruded into the dwelling and abused Richard SchwarzFranz Obenfeldner was one of two young men of the Gestapo who observed the occurrences in the street and placed the battered father and his 16 year-old son Viktor under protective custody. Wilhelm Adler remained unharmed because he was able to flee over the balcony.

Wilhelm Adler´s wife, Alice and their daughter Ilse lived in 33, Maria-Theresien-Straße, where they were attacked that night.

Erika Schwarz had already fled to Paris in March 1938, where she worked as au-pair for one year. In 1939 she moved to Manchester to meet her parents and brother again. She married and moved to Palestine in 1946 (Judith Shomroni) and became a nursery-school teacher and florist. Viktor Schwarz became biochemist at the medical school of the University of Manchester.
